Adult, Child Suffer Major Injuries in Collision on Hwy 12

The victims were rear-ended by another car on eastbound Highway 12 in Fairfield.

One adult and a child suffered major injuries Thursday in a collision on state Highway 12 in Fairfield.

At 3:15 p.m., the California Highway Patrol first received a report of a collision involving two vehicles on eastbound Highway 12 just west of Beck Avenue, according to CHP officer Dave Harvey.

The vehicle carrying the adult and child was rear-ended by another vehicle, Harvey said. The victims were taken to NorthBay Medical Center for their injuries.

The other driver involved in the collision complained of neck injuries, but did not sustain major injuries, according to the Harvey.

At 3:34 p.m., the CHP issued a Sig-alert, closing at least one lane of the highway, while officers investigated the collision.

By 3:52 p.m., the CHP had canceled the Sig-alert and reopened the highway, Harvey said.
