ALL NEW Free Basketball program for teens!

Fairfield PAL Welcomes Coach Leufville Back for a Basketball Experience Beyond the Basics

Fairfield PAL is bringing something special to the court this April when Coach Leufville returns to PAL — this time as the leader of a dynamic new basketball experience designed to help teens grow their game from every angle.

A familiar face to the PAL community, Coach Leufville is a former Fairfield PAL staff member who has continued building an impressive path in basketball. Today, he leads his own program, The Right Way To Play, while also coaching high school basketball and working across the sport in multiple roles, including officiating. Now, he’s coming back to where part of his journey began — and bringing that experience home to PAL teens.

This limited-run program will give Fairfield PAL members a chance to do more than just play. Teens will learn the fundamentals of officiating — including court positioning, reading the action, making calls, understanding game flow, and communicating with confidence — and then put those skills into action during live 3-on-3 games where they will rotate between playing and refereeing.

It’s a fresh, hands-on way to experience basketball — and one that can take a player’s understanding of the game to the next level.

Learning how to referee helps athletes become smarter players. It teaches them to see the court differently, understand the rules more deeply, and recognize the details that impact every possession — spacing, contact, timing, angles, and decision-making. Players who understand the game from an official’s perspective often become more disciplined, more aware, and more effective competitors. Just as importantly, officiating builds confidence, communication, leadership, focus, and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.

For teens who love basketball, this is a chance to step deeper into the game. For teens who may be curious about new roles in sports, it opens the door to officiating, leadership, and new ways to stay connected to the game they love.

At Fairfield PAL, recreation is never just about keeping young people busy — it’s about helping them build skills, confidence, and connections that last. This program reflects that mission by combining fun, mentorship, and real-world learning in a way that feels active, relevant, and exciting.

Sessions will be held on Wednesdays, starting April 8 through May 27 from 4-6pm. A free PAL membership is required.
