Alleged Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested In Suisun City

Police arrested a 26-year-old driver who allegedly fled after he struck a pedestrian with his vehicle Thursday in Suisun City.

SUISUN CITY - Police arrested a 26-year-old driver who allegedly fled after he struck a pedestrian with his vehicle Thursday in Suisun City.

Around 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a hit-and-run near Marina Boulevard and Railroad Avenue, according to police. Witnesses told officers that a male victim had been struck by a vehicle and was lying in the street, bleeding from the head, police said.

The driver then fled the scene, according to the witnesses.

Officers also learned the suspect vehicle had been drifting, or counter-steering, at a high rate of speed around the corner of Railroad Avenue and Marina Boulevard.

The vehicle then swerved off the road, striking the victim, who was walking in a dirt field, according to police.

Witnesses said the impact caused the victim to flip and spin in the air several times before landing on the street.

The victim was taken to NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield in stable condition, police said.

Witnesses were able to follow the suspect vehicle to the nearby intersection of Heritage Rose Lane and Rambler Rose Lane, where they saw the suspects exit the vehicle and run towards Buena Vista Drive and Rio Verde Drive.

Upon arrival, officers were able to detain the two male suspects near Rio Verde Drive and Terry Lane, according to police.

With the help of the witnesses, officers were able to identify Suisun City resident Garrett Correale as the driver.

Correale was arrested on suspicion of a hit and run traffic collision.

He was booked into the Solano County Jail, police said.
