Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center Adds Beds as it Continues to Expand Services for the Community

Kaiser Permanente’s Vacaville Medical Center continues to grow with the community, adding 48 beds to the hospital.

The new beds were added as a result of the addition of trauma services in October 2011 and the opening of Kaiser Permanente’s Neurosurgery Center of Excellence – the only neurosurgical program in Solano County – in November of 2012.  The 340,000-square-foot hospital opened in 2009 with 64 licensed beds. The addition of the 48 beds will bring the total of patient beds to 112.  

“This hospital was designed to grow with the community,” said Max Villalobos, Kaiser Permanente hospital administrator/CEO. “The addition of these new patient beds demonstrates that our approach to delivering health care that is integrated, personalized and technologically advanced is important to Solano County. We are having a positive impact on the health and well-being of this community, and we will continue to do so for years to come.”

All of the patient beds are private, single patient rooms. Twenty-four will be dedicated to medical-surgical cases and 24 will be telemetry beds.

“We are continuing to expand our clinical services to provide high-quality expert medicine in the community—particularly in terms of our trauma center and our neurosurgery services—and these new beds will enable us to continue to provide our patients with expert clinical care,”  said Steven Stricker, MD, physician -in-chief for Kaiser Permanente Napa-Solano.

The beds were officially licensed by the California Department of Public Health during a survey on February 12, 2013 and will be put officially into use on Wednesday, February 20. The medical center has room for additional beds as the need arises in the future.
