Antioch Police Office Allegedly Dragged By Suspect Vehicle In Reverse Gear
An Antioch police officer was allegedly dragged 20 feet by a vehicle when a suspect with an outstanding warrant attempted to flee on Monday.

ANTIOCH - An Antioch police officer was allegedly dragged 20 feet by a vehicle when a suspect with an outstanding warrant attempted to flee late Monday night.
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Pittsburg resident Alfredo Ardanas, was eventually arrested after a vehicle pursuit through Antioch, police said today.
Officers initially responded at 11:48 p.m. to Office Depot at 5885 Lone Tree Way based on reports of a suspicious vehicle. They found Ardanas, who had warrant out for his arrest, in a parked vehicle, police said.

When officers tried to take him into custody, Ardanas allegedly drove in reverse suddenly, dragging an officer around 20 feet with the vehicle, police said.
The officer suffered injuries considered minor.

Police said Ardanas then was pursued through Antioch surface streets and eventually onto state Highway 4.
After exiting the highway, Ardanas surrendered to officers at a BART Park & Ride parking lot in Antioch, police said.
He was arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.
