Applicants Wanted for Suisun City Foundation, Planning Commission

Three different commissions are looking for new members.

Want a chance to help Suisun City shape its future? The city is currently seeking applicants for the Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission; the Suisun City Community Services Foundation is also looking for board members.

Members of that foundation will help plan "service projects, activities and special events" for the community, the city's website states.

"The Foundation was formed in April 2012 as an independent non-profit organization in response to the State’s elimination of redevelopment funding and the subsequent reduction in City spending on community activities," the website states. "It is the Foundation’s belief that elimination of these activities would be a significant loss to those living in and around Suisun City."

So far, the Community Services Foundation has raised money to preserve the city's "annual July 4th Celebration, Saturday Night at the Movies and Christmas at the Waterfront," it says in a letter posted on the city's website.

The deadline to apply for a spot on that board is Dec. 7.

The city has four spots to fill on its Parks and Recreation Commission: three of the new appointees will serve until 2017 and one will serve until 2015.

The deadline to apply for those spots is Dec. 28.
