Business of the Week: Healthy Nail & Spa Salon
Healthy Nail & Spa Salon may be new, but its owner is no stranger to running a salon.
Just last March, Amy Le Mitchell opened Healthy Nail & Spa Salon on McCoy Creek Rd. A perfectionst of sorts, Mitchell always strives do to better than she has done before. Though Mitchell has owned salons before, this is her first business in Suisun City.
βI wanted a different salon that was better than all my salons before and so I try to put myself in a (position) to have some workers that can offer customers (different) services,β said Mitchell.
Mitchell said she decided to go into cosmetology after leaving a poor region of Vietnam where she lived with her grandmother, and coming to live in the United States.

βThat was my dream when I was a little girl,β said Mitchell. βWhen I grew up I knew I wanted to work in beauty.β
Mitchell came to the states 25 years ago and pursued her license to become a cosmetologist and esthetician three years later. She opened four previous salons in Vacaville and Fairfield, before settling in Suisun City. Each salon she has ever owned has either won or been nominated for awards by various local newspapers.

βI enjoy what Iβm doing and I take care of my customers very well,β said Mitchell.
Mitchell said she has a passion for what she does and especially likes being able to make her customers happy. In fact, Healthy Nail and Spa is a truly a one stop shop for just about any of your beauty needs. With six other workers in her salon and spa, Mitchell offers just about everything from nail care, to hair care, waxing, facials, and massages.
βI like for my customers to be able to treat themselves, and love themselves and feel good,β she said.
Mitchell said a common misconception is that men shouldnβt treat themselves to what has been traditionally known as services only women get. She believes it is just as important for men to take care of themselves by getting services like manicures or pedicures, stating such services can help keep their nails healthy and clean.
Mitchell likes to be able to not only make her customers beautiful, but be an encouragement to them. The salon owner said she has little family that she keeps in touch with in the area so she relies on her faith and the friends she has made at her salon.
βMy family is God (and) my customer is my family,β she said. βThey are my income, too. So I have to take good care of my customer.β
