CA Mom Of 10 Denies Allegations Kids Were Tortured In Filthy Home

Fairfield police allege the children were tortured and had to live in squalor-like conditions filled with human and animal feces. [VIDEO]

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A Fairfield mother accused of neglecting her 10 children, one as young as 4 months old, denied any abuse. Ina Rogers, 30, is charged with child endangerment and the children's father, Johnathan Allen, 29, is charged with torture and child abuse after the kids were found living in what police called squalor-like conditions filled with human and animal feces scattered throughout their house.

Greg Hurlbut, a spokesman for the Fairfield Police Department, said the investigation began March 31 when officers responded to a report of a missing child in the 2200 block of Fieldstone Court. As part of the search for the couple's missing child, the home was searched.

"While inside officers located unsafe and unsanitary living conditions including garbage and spoiled food on the floor, animal and human feces, and a large amount of debris making areas of the house unpassable," Hurlbut said. "Nine more children, ranging in age from 4 months to 11 years were contacted inside the residence."

Hurlbut said the missing 12-year-old was found a short time later, sleeping under a bush in the yard of a nearby home.

Rogers, who was arrested that night but later released on bail, told the media the allegations were false. In media interviews outside her home, Rogers held photos of her children saying the home was a mess because she was searching for her 12-year-old child.

"I would never have a house full of children that were abused or allowed them to be abused," Rogers told the media. "This is out of my character. All these allegations are ludicrous. All I need is a good defense to look into this."

Hurlbut said in interviews with professionals, the children "described incidents of intentional abuse resulting in puncture wounds, burns, bruising, and injuries consistent with being shot with a BB or air soft type gun."

Allen was arrested May 11 and charged with seven counts of torture and nine counts of felony child abuse.

Speaking to cameras with the hope her children, who are now living with family members, may be watching, Rogers said, "We love you so much and we are not going to stop."

"I know you don't know what's going on but everyone will know you guys are loved," Rogers said. "Your mommy loves you. Every day I am working for you."

But, Wanda Rogers, the grandmother of the children, told NBC News the children "went through a lot of abuse."

Solano County Chief Deputy District Attorney Sharon Henry told reporters that prosecutors are seeking to file more charges against Rogers but did not state the extent of what those charges may be.

Regarding the charges against Allen, Henry called his alleged behavior "sadistic" and reiterated there was enough evidence to charge him with seven counts of torture.
