Care Home Facility Evacuated, Residents Displaced After Fairfield Fire

A two-alarm house fire in Fairfield on Saturday afternoon displaced residents and prompted a neighboring elderly care facility to evacuate, fire officials said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a structure fire in the 1600 block of Blossom Avenue around 4 p.m. Saturday.

A home and two cars were in flames leading to crews to request for a second alarm response, according to fire officials. The blaze burned about a quarter-acre of grass in Fairfield and crossed over to Suisun City limits, fire officials said.

A care facility for the elderly next door to the home was evacuated, according to fire officials.

The facility did not sustain damage in the fire and a resident of the care home was transported to a hospital for shortness of breath, fire officials said.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the home’s residents, according to fire officials. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
