CHP Rescues Injured Hiker From Cliff Near Monticello Dam

A helicopter was used to pluck the 20-year-old from the side of a cliff.

Rescue crews were able to aid an injured hiker who fell down a cliff near the Monticello Dam in Solano County on Sunday.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter responded around 3:30 p.m. to a call of a man stuck on a cliff near the Monticello Dam on the southeast corner of Lake Berryessa.

Officers said a 20-year-old hiker had fallen down a steep and precarious cliff and was stuck 50 feet from the bottom of the cliff and 200 feet from the top.

Officers were able to implement a hoist rescue to extricate the hiker from the cliff.

The hiker was flown to a nearby landing zone and then transported to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
