Cops Investigate Shooting That Sent 1 To Hospital

The Friday morning incident was near Laurel Park in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, CA - Police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital Friday morning in Fairfield. At 9:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooter near Laurel Park located at 2896 Gulf Drive, according to police.

Several witnesses told police they saw people fleeing the area at the time of the shooting. Two people were also seen running south on the bike path along Laurel Creek, police said.

Officers set up a perimeter and searched the area, along with help from Solano County sheriff's deputies and a California Highway Patrol aircraft.

Minutes after the report of the shooting, a person with a gunshot wound arrived at a hospital.

The victim was in critical condition as of Friday afternoon, according to police. Investigators believe the victim was connected to the shooting.

Officers stopped a green Mustang near East Tabor Drive and Grande Circle, believing it was in the area at the time of the shooting. The occupants were interviewed and police are trying to determine their involvement in the shooting, police said. No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
