Ecotours to Begin Voyages This Weekend

Suisun City has a lot of things planned for this summer and much of it is happening this weekend. On Saturday, Ecotours will be giving their inaugural voyage of tours through the Suisun Slough. The tours give participants a chance to learn about the wildlife living within the area and the history of the marsh.

“These are introductory tours, sort of a teaser for the regular tours that will be conducted in July and August,” said Jeff Hart, tour boat captain.

During the voyages, Hart will explain the different types of wildlife and plants in and around the water as well as the history of the surrounding area. He has been giving tours like these for more than eight years, exploring different wetlands throughout Northern California. With a weekend full of events for the Suisun Waterfront including the , , and the beginning of the Saturday Night at the Movies, Hart hopes this will help get the word out about Ecotours even more.

The voyages begin this weekend from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The price for tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. Departure for the tours will happen once the boat is fairly full and take about 45 minutes. Longer tours may be available later in the summer, however. Hart said the length of a regular tour is two to three hours. This will be the only weekend in June tours will be given, though they will be available throughout all of July and August. Though the weather has been a cooler than normal for June, Hart is optimistic that it will not affect him this weekend.

“I don't expect the weather to be too windy this weekend,” he said.
