Elections Office to Stay Open Late Monday

It is the last voter registration day

The Elections Office will stay open until 8 p.m. on Monday– the last day to register for the upcoming presidential election.

“We want to ensure every eligible voter has an opportunity to register and participate in the electoral process,” said John Gardner, deputy Registrar of Voters.

As of Thursday, more than 206,000 Solano County citizens were registered to vote in the November 6, 2012 election, of which nearly 7,700 registered to vote online.

Voter registration forms are available online and at various locations throughout each community, including public libraries, post offices, and the city clerk’s office.

Completed paper forms should be delivered to the elections office or the city clerk’s office in each city. The elections office is located on the second floor of the Solano County Administration Center, 675 Texas St.reet, in Fairfield.

Web users can register to vote by clicking on a red button at the top of www.solanocounty.com/elections. Web users must finish and submit the electronic form before midnight on Monday.  The online registrants will be able to print a receipt of their voter registration, or stay totally in the virtual world and have the receipt emailed to them.

Online registrants will need their California driver’s license or identification card number, the last four digits of their Social Security number, and their date of birth. The system automatically links up to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and retrieves a copy of the signature on file with the DMV.

People who do not have a California driver’s license or identification card can still use this form to register to vote by completing the online interview by midnight on Monday.  They will then have to print, sign, and mail the form to the address on the mailing label.

The online voter registration system is managed by the California Secretary of State’s office.

Voters can also find their voting precinct and poll location, check their voter registration status and change their political party affiliation at www.solanocounty.com/elections.
