Explanation For Wire Service Error On Kidnapping Article

Notice regarding the Bay City News Service, Inc. wire story posted earlier today of a reported kidnapping attempt at a Dixon park.

The Bay City News reporter saw the press release on the Dixon police website and it had today’s month and date. However, the case occurred four years ago, in 2011, and the writer did not notice the year.

We, at Patch news, one of many subscribers to the Bay City News wire service, ran the story, and apologize for passing along the misinformation and upsetting our readers. The article is now removed from the site.
