Fairfield Football Coach Accused Of Embezzling Funds From Athletic Fundraisers

The head football coach at Vanden High School in Fairfield has been arrested on suspicion of embezzling thousands of dollars from athletic fundraising events, Fairfield police said.

LeVon Haynes, 42, who also was a campus monitor, was arrested Tuesday in the 2900 block of Shasta Drive and booked into the Solano County jail for embezzlement, Lt. Stephen Crane said.

A Fairfield police officer assigned as a school resource officer at Vanden High School received information on Aug. 12 about a possible embezzlement, Crane said.

Fairfield police detectives investigated and served search warrants at the Shasta Drive address and in the 2500 block of Shorey Way, Crane said.

The alleged embezzlements occurred over a period of several months, Crane said.

Haynes, a Vanden High School graduate, has been head football coach at Vanden High School for five years and has coached football, basketball and baseball at the school since 1993, according to his biography on the school’s website.
