Fairfield Man Who Died In Labor Day Shooting Identified By Police

The 57-year-old was shot dead when an unknown number of suspects entered a home's garage and started shooting people, police said.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — Police have identified a man who died after multiple people were shot at a Fairfield home Monday night as Mitchell Charles McClain Jr., 57, of Fairfield. The shooting, which occurred at about 10 p.m. in the 1100 block of Tanglewood Drive, also injured two others, one critically, according to police.

The incident happened as a group of people was listening to music in the home's garage. An unknown number of people then arrived and allegedly began shooting into the garage. Several vehicles and a neighboring house were struck by bullets, police said.

Mitchell died at the scene, and the two other victims were taken to a hospital, according to police.

Police do not believe that the shooting was random and it remains under investigation. Police are also looking into whether the shooting is related to other recent shootings in Fairfield.
