UPDATE: Fairfield Officers Confirm Shooting Suspect Wanted for Shooting 8-Year-Old in Concord

Fairfield officer-involved shooting: Officials confirm James Jarrad, man wanted for shooting a Concord boy has been shot, in custody.

Fairfield Police Department reports, on Monday, March 28 at 12:40 p.m., dispatch received a call from a concerned citizen who believed they were following the suspect who was wanted in connection with the shooting of an 8-old-child in the City of Concord.

Officials say the caller remained on the line and following the suspect vehicle to a business parking lot in the 3400 block of North Texas St.

Officers arrived and located the suspect in the north end of the parking lot, says the police press release.

“The suspect immediately ran from officers eastbound through the parking lot toward the rear of the business,” stated the release, “Officers pursued the suspect which resulted in an Officer Involved Shooting on the east side of the business.”

The suspect, James Jarrard, 32, was taken into custody and transported to an area trauma center. He is reportedly undergoing treatment and is listed in critical condition.

Detectives from the Fairfield Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit, in partnership with the Solano County District Attorney’s Office Investigators, are currently investigating this incident. The investigation is in the early stages and there is no further information at this time.

The suspect wanted for allegedly shooting an 8-year-old boy in the neck three days ago, has been shot by Fairfield police, according to ABC news.

ABC reports James "Smiley" Jarrad, 32, is in critical condition after being shot by police in Fairfield, near Lowes on North Texas Street Monday afternoon.

There was a $1.1 million dollar warrant out for Jarrad’s arrest, following the incident that left an 8-year-old boy in critical condition on Friday in Concord.

FAIRFIELD - The Fairfield Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in the 3400 block of North Texas Street, according to information just released.

According to police, a suspect was transported to a local trauma center and is in critical condition.

Police say there are no other outstanding suspects. None of involved officers were injured, according to authorities.
