Fireworks At The Waterfront Will Be As Grand As Ever

Suisun City may arguably have the best Independence Day fireworks
display in Solano County, and this year it will be no different.

“The fireworks themselves will be the same as in previous
years,” said Anita Skinner, City administrative assistant. “It’s the events
surrounding the fireworks that have been scaled back."

With cuts to the City’s budget, including Redevelopment Agency
funds that in previous years have helped subsidize July 4^th event
expenses, there will be some changes to the Independence Day Spectacular. This year, festivities will begin at 3 p.m. instead of 11 a.m. There will still be booths present but with more non-profit agencies manning them rather than the artisan vendors the event usually has.

“There will not be any crafters selling jewelry, trinkets, nothing
of that nature.” Skinner said. “The only vendors out there will be nonprofit
organizations and they will be handing out materials of the services that their organization provides. “

Food vendors will still be present, as well as live music and dance performances provided to the city for free by various groups and bands. Performances will lead up to the fireworks show at about 9:15 p.m.  Check out the schedule of the Independence Day Spectacular previously posted on Suisun City Patch below:

Starting at 3 p.m., Harbor Plaza will be available for family picnicking. Waterfront restaurants are open for dining -for a list of restaurants, click here.

• 3 p.m. - Harbor Plaza opens for family picnicking and fun
• 3-4 p.m. - Alive Music Orchestra performs
• 4-5 p.m. - Chapkis Dance - Hip Hop by Greg Chapkis, Jazz by Lisa Clark
• 6 p.m. - Poyntlyss Sistars perform
• 9:15 p.m. - Fireworks Spectacular
