Free child safety-seat inspection on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Kroc Center
Assemblymember Jim Frazier, CHP and Kroc Center co-sponsor effort to keep young kids safe.

SUISUN CITY, CA –Assemblymember Jim Frazier is teaming up with the California Highway Patrol and the Kroc Center of Suisun City to offer a free child safety-seat inspection on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., families are invited to drive to the Kroc Center, 586 E. Wigeon Way, Suisun City, where child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to inspect children’s car seats and booster seats, to ensure they are installed properly in the vehicle. The inspectors are certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
“Every year, we hear of children who are injured or killed because their safety seats weren’t properly installed or their buckles weren’t fastened right,” Frazier said. “I’m glad we can offer this opportunity for parents and caregivers to make sure they are correctly using their children’s safety equipment.”
According to the CHP, children under age 1 must ride in a rear-facing car seat in the back seat; national guidelines recommend keeping children in a rear-facing position until age 2. In California, children under age 8 must be secured in a car seat or booster seat in the back seat. Children age 8 or those who are 4-foot-9 or taller may use the vehicle’s seat belt, if it fits properly.
During the Sept. 5 inspection, the CHP will have a limited number of free car seats available to replace ones that no longer meet safety standards.
Drop-ins are welcome at the event, but RSVPs are encouraged. They can be made online at Frazier’s website, http://bit.ly/AD11Events, or by calling his District Office at (707) 399-3011.
