Hampton Inn Wins Quality Award, Reports Good Fiscal Health

Suisun City’s won a “Circle of Excellence” award, one of only three California Hampton Inns to demonstrate enough cleanliness and guest service to earn it.

This award goes to the top 10 percent of all 1,824 Hamptons across the country that qualify for it —this past year 52 hotels qualified.

As Hampton Inn & Suites Suisun City Waterfront manager Hartmut Ott said in an e-mail:  

“Hampton wants to make sure that we operate the hotel based on their prescribed standards.  We completed the last shop (inspection) with 98.1% compliance.

The 2^nd component is Guest Satisfaction.  Since we opened the hotel we consistently rank in the top 5% on overall guest satisfaction alone.  Our team does a great job taking care of our guests and making sure the hotel is always clean.  Our guests have recognized that and give us extremely high marks.”

Ott said in an interview the hotel has done well so far weathering the rough economy, with occupancy rates he said were above the average for hotels in the area. This is a kind of coup for the new hotel, he said, which happened to open its doors in 2009 — not exactly the best year to have to start a business.

“When you open a hotel, usually you have all kinds of difficulties to overcome,” Ott said. “Despite those difficulties the team has always taken care of our guests with a philosophy of ‘Let’s keep the place clean and let’s take care of our guests and everything else will fall into place.’”

Ott said grumblings at City Council budget talks about the hotel not bringing in the amount of TOT expected — more than $200,000 instead of more than $300,000 — represent an expectation before the recession hit.

“We’re actually outdoing the competition continually,” Ott said.

The hotel is benefitting from the proximity of Travis Air Force Base, Ott has said in the past, often serving the military and their families.
