Inmate Dies After Deputies Try To Book Him At Solano County Jail

 A Solano County jail inmate died this morning after he became "uncooperative and aggressive" while he was being booked, a Solano County sheriff's lieutenant said.

David Macedo, 35, of Vallejo, was arrested by Vallejo police on a
misdemeanor charge of abusing the 911 phone system, Lt. Gary Faulkner said.

Macedo was making many calls to the Vallejo police and fire departments Sunday night, Faulkner said.

Vallejo police brought Macedo to the jail around 4 a.m. today.
When he became uncooperative and aggressive during the booking, he was put in a holding cell in the receiving area for observation, Faulkner said.

Faulkner also described Macedo's behavior as "belligerent and argumentative."

Macedo appeared to lose consciousness and collapsed to the floor around 7 a.m. when correctional officers tried to obtain his fingerprints, Faulkner said.

Correctional officers started CPR until an ambulance arrived, and Macedo was pronounced dead at the NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.

The Sacramento County coroner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of Macedo's death, Faulkner said.

The Solano County Sheriff's and district attorney's offices will investigate the death, Faulkner said.
