LA Times: Suisun City Pays Its Council Double What State Binding Guidelines Are

A story published today on latimes.com shows some communities in the state pay their councils more in base and benefits than the state either recommends, or in Suisun City's case, seem to allow.

A Los Angeles Times database shows Suisun City Councilmembers earning more than double what a state binding guideline allows in base pay and benefits. One caveat: There are loopholes that cities can take advantage of, and its unclear at this point if Suisun City has done that.

The Times found 31 communities across the state paid more than the state either recommended or allowed, with the vast majority of communities paying less than recommended or allowed.
