Lean In and Empower Healthy Girls In Napa And Solano!

Volunteers needed: Life coaches sought for the hundreds of girls, ages 8 to 14, from our area.

Girls on the Run Napa & Solano is recruiting 10 life coaches to volunteer and empower healthy young girls, ages 8 to 14, to believe in themselves and achieve their dreams.

Girls on the Run Napa & Solano is a healthy empowerment program that combines research proven life skill curriculum with engaging discussions, activities and running or just moving it. Life coaches co-lead the elementary school, Girls on the Run, curriculum or the new Heart & Sole middle school curriculum. Girls on the Run Napa & Solano is a local nonprofit council of Girls on the Run International.

Girls on the Run topics include visualization, expressing feelings with “I” statements, celebrating their unique selves, positive self-talk, questioning the media’s definition of beauty, eating healthy and standing up to bullies. Heart & Sole discussions revolve around problem solving, living balanced life, self-care, decision making, boundary setting, and making friends.

443 girls participated this past spring with 77% low income families. Linda Elliott-Smith, winery owner and mom volunteered at Vichy Elementary School and shared, “This is a wonderful opportunity to give back and empower girls from Napa and Solano Country to be their best self! I can attest to the incredible experience this is, bonding with these amazing girls and life coaches, and making a tremendous difference in our own backyard!”

Life coaches share their authentic, empowered and healthy self as they co-lead 8 to 15 girls for 75 minutes once or twice a week for 10 weeks. Women are needed who enjoy being with elementary girls and leading fun experiential life skill games or middle school girls and are flexible with facilitating girl driven life discussions.

Volunteers need not be runners to inspire confidence, joy, health & caring for the over 900 girls who will participate this year.
