Maintenance Worker Dies On Building Rooftop: Fairfield FD
"Crews on scene did everything possible to be respectful of the family's wishes and coordinate efforts with the receiving funeral home."
FAIRFIELD, CA — A maintenance worker died on the roof of a building Wednesday night in Fairfield, according to the Fairfield Fire Department, which responded to the incident in the 1200 block of Western Street, near Air Base Parkway and Clay Bank Road.
Crew members with Fairfield FD's Engine 39 were dispatched to a report of a deceased elderly man, and found the maintenance worker had died on the roof of a commercial building. He was presumed to have suffered a fatal medical emergency while cleaning the rooftop, fire officials said.
"Engine 39 requested Truck 37 to the scene for assistance ... to properly remove the victim from the rooftop," fire officials said. "Crews on scene did everything possible to be respectful of the family’s wishes and coordinate efforts with the receiving funeral home."
