Major Injuries In Morning Crash Near Rio Vista

A big-rig collided with a Ford Taurus.

One person suffered major injuries in a collision involving a big-rig and a Ford Taurus on eastbound state Highway 12 near state Highway 113 in the Rio Vista area of Solano County this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The collision was reported around 8:50 a.m. The highway was closed in both directions but one-way traffic was in effect as of 11:15 a.m., CHP Officer Chris Parker said. The big-rig overturned in the collision but was placed back on its wheels around 9:45 a.m., according to the CHP.

The big-rig’s cab was bent in half and diesel spilled in the collision.

The driver of the Taurus had to be extricated from the vehicle, CHP officials said.
