FAIRFIELD, CA — A 38-year-old Fairfield man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly assaulting an elderly family member and barricading himself inside a residence while threatening officers with a hammer, police said.

Fairfield police responded at about 7:18 a.m. to a reported battery in the 2100 block of Merritt Place.
