Man Killed by Suspected Drunken Driver ID'd as James Parker
The driver was allegedly driving the wrong way and partially on the sidewalk when he struck Parker.

The Solano County coroner’s office has identified a pedestrian who was killed by a suspected drunk driver in Fairfield last month as 44-year-old James Parker, a local transient.
Parker was struck by a vehicle that was traveling east on East Travis Boulevard around 5:20 a.m. on Oct. 28 as he walked west on San Bruno Street in a crosswalk, Fairfield police Officer Kathryn McCormick said. He died at the scene.
The driver, Nathan Vargas, 31, of Fairfield, was allegedly driving the wrong way and partially on the sidewalk. The vehicle struck a power pole after hitting Parker, McCormick said.

Vargas stopped at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI.
Parker’s next court date in Solano County Superior Court is Dec. 2.
