Man in Sunday's Fatal Car Rollover on I-80 Identified

The victim was 18 years old and from Fairfield.

An 18-year-old man was killed in a rollover crash when he lost control of his Mercedes on Interstate Highway 80 in Fairfield on Sunday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

John Adams of Fairfield died in a hospital after suffering major injuries in the crash, according to the Solano County coroner’s office.

He was heading west on Highway 80 just west of Interstate Highway 680 where he lost control of the car on the wet roadway at about 8:30 a.m., Officer Marvin Hurn said today.

The car flipped and Adams was severely injured when he was found. He was rushed to a hospital but later died, Hurn said.

The primary cause of the crash appears to be the road conditions but it’s possible Adams was speeding, Hurn said.

CHP officers closed two lanes of the highway for about 90 minutes during the investigation.
