Munthe Saleh, known as โ€œSalโ€ to his regular customers, owns Marina Pizza in the Marina Center. Saleh opened the pizzeria in 1994 and has found a consistent customer base in Solano County; serving customers from Vacaville and as far as Napa, he said.

โ€œMany of our customers are customers who have been ordering pizzas from us for a long time,โ€ said Saleh. โ€œSometimes I donโ€™t even have to ask who is on the phone or what they want to order because I can already tell by their voice.โ€

Originally a business owner in San Francisco, Saleh learned about the pizza business from close friends and took what he learned and opened his own establishment in Suisun. ย

At Marina Pizza, you can order anywhere from a single slice to a 20-inch pizza, said Saleh. Marina Pizza uses quality ingredients, including fresh vegetables and all beef products, which are necessary to making a very tasty pizza, he said.

Every morning, someone is required to open the pizzeria and warm up the brick oven, but no pizzas are made unless someone places an order, said Saleh. Preventing the dough from sitting out too long helps prevent the dough from hardening when cooked, therefore each piece of dough is individually wrapped until ready to be used.ย  Marina Pizza also uses a special pizza sauce made from a secret family recipe that when combined with pizza dough creates the perfect pizza, he explained.

โ€œWe donโ€™t make pizzas just to make them because someone placed an order,โ€ said Mousa Saleh, Salโ€™s youngest son. โ€œWhen we make a pizza we take our time and make sure that we make the pizza the way we would like our pizza to be made. This just ensures that each pizza is made correctly and our customer will enjoy it.โ€

Long-time Suisun resident Cj Beal lives within walking distance from Marina Pizza and favors a large, pepperoni pizza. ย Marina Pizza is his first choice pizzeria when itโ€™s time to order a good pizza, he said.

โ€œThe pizzas are awesome,โ€ said Beal. โ€œThe crust is perfect and itโ€™s not overflowing with sauce. Plus itโ€™s right around the corner so itโ€™s convenient and the prices are cheaper compared to other places Iโ€™ve eaten at.โ€

Saleh and his three sons all work at the pizzeria and each person is capable of performing all of the duties. Salehโ€™s youngest son, Mousa, goes to school and works full-time with his father. Mousa occasionally manages the business when his father is out of town. Owning a pizza shop wasnโ€™t his career goal, but he does plan on taking ownership when his father chooses to retire, said Saleh. ย

ย โ€œWeโ€™ve built some really nice relationships with a lot of our customers,โ€ said Saleh. โ€œWeโ€™ve earned this trust from the community and with any good running business itโ€™s always important to keep a good rapport with the customers.โ€

Marina Pizza is located at 507 Marina Center and offers free delivery on all orders.
