Memorializing Solano's Lost Children

The county is planning a memorial for children in the county who died in 2011.

From Solano County public information:

The flags honoring14 children who lives were tragically lost in 2011 will take their somber place in the Garden of Hope on April 27 as part of the eighth annual Children’s Memorial Flag Day.

The annual observance will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Health and Social Services Children’s Memorial Site, 275 Beck Ave. in Fairfield.

The loss of any child is tragic and while not all of these deaths could have been prevented, the observance will focus on eliminating the loss of children as a result of abuse, neglect and unintended injuries.

“Children are our most precious asset. Solano County is thankful that only a few of our young children have been victims of senseless violence. With that success goes the responsibility on the part of government and every member of our community to continue our vigilance and to protect our children.  We cannot rest until every child in our community is safe,” said Board of Supervisors’ Chair Linda Seifert.
