Minivan Strikes, Seriously Injures Boy, 11
The child was rushed from the crosswalk accident scene in Fairfield to UC Davis Medical Center. [Breaking]

SOLANO COUNTY, CA – An 11-year-old boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a minivan in Fairfield this morning, according to police.
The child was trying to cross Texas Street at Great Jones Street shortly before 8 a.m. when he was struck by the minivan as it drove east on Texas Street, according to police.
The boy was in a crosswalk when he was hit but there is no signal light at that location. The driver, who stopped and is cooperating with police, is not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol,
Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.

"It appears he just stepped out in front of the van," Bloesch said.
The boy was cared for at the scene by witnesses and then taken by ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center.
