Napa, Solano Earthquake Assistance Centers Cut Hours Due To Decreased Demand

Some 1,100 residents have utilized the facilities, which now are closed on Sundays.

The Napa Earthquake Local Assistance Center in Napa and the Solano County Disaster Recovery Center in Vallejo will no longer be open Sundays because of decreased demand, state and federal officials said today.

The centers provide services to residents affected by the South Napa 6.0-magnitude earthquake on Aug. 24. Since Oct. 31, nearly 1,100 people have visited the centers.

The Napa Center is at 301 First St. and the Vallejo center is at 1155 Capitol St.

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration are available to help affected residents submit documents, check the status of an application for state and federal aid and loans and provide information about earthquake loss mitigation.

The centers remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays until further notice. They will be closed for Thanksgiving and the following Friday, Nov. 27-28.

People who suffered losses in the earthquake can apply for disaster assistance online at DiasaterAssistance.gov or via smartphone or tablet at m.fema.gov.

FEMA may also be reached at (800) 621-3362 or (800) 462-7585. Phone lines will remain open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Earthquake disaster assistance includes grants for temporary housing, home repair and medical expenses not covered by insurance and other sources.
