New Train Station Cafe To Open Next Month

Waterfront Cafe will serve healthy and environmentally sustainable products.

After months of searching for a new train station café owner, the café that serves a “key regional transportation hub” will soon have new occupants.

According to a press release by the City of Suisun City, a lease for the café was recently signed and local entrepreneurs Tina Montez and Kevin Smith are set to be the building’s next tenants this February.

The previous café, El Capitan Coffee Company was r, Kirk Knutson, stated he was not making enough money to keep the cafe open due to slow traffic.

The cafe will be an important placement to the only Solano County Amtrak/Capitol Corridor stop. On weekdays  the station services over 30 train stops and serves as a transit center for commuters, including Fairfield and Suisun Transit, Rio Vista Delta Breeze and Greyhound bus riders.

The lease requires the new cafe to be open by 6 a.m. to commuters. Healthy and sustainable products from local businesses, including coffee from , will be served by the cafe.

According to a press release from the city, Smith said, “We’re looking forward to servicing the commuters as well as the community who live, work and visit the Waterfront District.”
