Raised Concrete On Main Street To Serve As Pedestrian Walkway
Improvements to Main Street include plans to help keep street safer

Just recently, roadwork has resumed on Main Street. If you have traveled downtown, however, you’ve probably noticed the speed bump like rising of concrete in front of the on Main Street.
It's part of a city-county redesign of the Veterans Hall, said Scott Corey, city spokesman.
“That is part of the county's redesign for the Veterans Hall and their vision is to have a stamped concrete crosswalk that connects the Veterans Hall with the island across the street on the parking lot side," said Corey. "They hope to have a veterans monument of some nature in the future and that raised part of the roadway is there for that stamped concrete walkway for the foundation for that.”

Solano County architect Kanon Artiche said that a monument was proposed to go up, but there is no current planning or funding for it, as of yet.
"That is more conceptual in nature at this point,” said Artiche.

Artiche said the project for the stamped concrete is meant to calm traffic in the area. There are plans for other locations that are planned to have the stamped concrete for public right of way, as well, for similar reasons.
“In other words to slow traffic down as you approach the main part of the city, but (they) will also serve as safe pedestrian crossing to cross the street and what we’re trying to do in time is create of pedestrian link to connect the west side of Main Street to the waterfront,” said Artiche.
