Slow Speed Fairfield Chase Leads To Discovery Of Stolen Gun

A man was arrested in Fairfield Sunday night after officers conducting a traffic stop found a stolen loaded firearm, according to police.

FAIRFIELD - A man was arrested in Fairfield Sunday night after officers conducting a traffic stop found a stolen loaded firearm, according to police.

Police said at 9:50 p.m. an officer attempted to stop a car that was speeding on Meadowlark Drive, however the driver did not immediately pull over and led the officer on a low speed pursuit.

Eventually, the car pulled over and 20-year-old Paul Perkins was arrested, according to police.

Police said during an investigation of the vehicle, officers found a hidden compartment in the dash with a loaded handgun that had been reported stolen from a home in Northern California five years ago.

Perkins was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, evading police, driving on a suspended license and several weapons related charges.
