Solano Co. Coroner IDs 3 Killed In I-680 Crash in Benicia

The three killed in the Tuesday afternoon crash were senior citizens from Vacaville.

The Solano County coroner’s office has identified three Vacaville residents who were killed in a crash in Benicia on Tuesday afternoon as Everett Wright and Wanda Wright, both 76, and Ulrich Woods, 78.

Everett Wright was driving a 2004 Kia Spectra at approximately 70 mph north on Interstate Highway 680 when he was involved in a minor collision with another vehicle around 3:45 p.m., CHP Sgt. Randy Weaver said.

Both vehicles exited the highway at the Lake Herman Road off-ramp, but Wright failed to keep the Kia on the pavement and it drifted to the left, Weaver said.

The other vehicle stopped at the crash scene, California Highway Patrol Officer Will Guerstmar said.

The Kia traveled through dry brush, became airborne and struck the north edge of a ditch.

The crash caused the front air bags to deploy and all three occupants were wearing seatbelts, Weaver said.

They were all pronounced dead at the scene by the Benicia Fire Department at 3:50 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

The crash closed the Lake Herman Road off-ramp until 6:15 p.m.
