Solano Co. Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase
The officer tried to stop the man who has fake registration stickers on the car's license plate, but he drove away at high speed.

A 48-year-old Vacaville man was arrested Saturday night after he led police on a high-speed chase through his hometown, police said.
An officer spotted a vehicle on Leisure Town Road near Gilley Way at about 11 p.m. with fake registration stickers on its rear license plate, according to police.
The officer tried to stop the man but he drove away at high speed, police said.

Gary Bernardo was driving a black 1995 Dodge Ram truck through Vacaville at speeds of up to 90 miles per hour, according to police. An officer tried to lay down spike strips to stop the truck but Bernardo tried to run the officer over, police said.
Eventually a spike strip deflated the truck’s tires, but Bernardo drove on the rims until the truck would no longer move, according to police.

Bernardo was arrested in the 2100 block of Marshall Road, police said.
Allegedly he did not cooperate with officers and was arrested with the use of a K-9, according to police.
Bernardo was arrested on suspicion of assault on a police officer, evading police, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, obstructing an officer and driving on a suspended license, police said.
