Solano College Theatre To Perform Free Shakespeare Play

Theater students will give a free performance of Love Labour's Lost at the waterfront

This summer Solano College Theater will be performing two plays with a number of show times available. The German play, “The Visit” will be performed exclusively at Harbor Plaza at the end of this month. For those wanting to catch a Shakespeare favorite before it opens at Harbor Theatre, however, come check out “Love Labour’s Lost” at the Waterfront courtyard fireplace this August.

“We have some really nice sponsors and this is an opportunity for families to see a classic play from Germany, which I think they’ll enjoy and ‘Loves Labour’s Lost’ which is also free,” said Jim Jones, cast member.

‘Love Labour’s Lost’ is set at the University of Navarre where a king and three companions make a three-year vow to fast, study, and abstain from women. The three consider diverting from their vow, however, after the arrival of the Princess of French Canada and her three ladies who seek to speak to the king regarding “serious business.” The standard Shakespeare is also shaken up a bit with a “Glee”-like number in the midst of the play.

“It’s a wonderful romantic comedy from Shakespeare, so it’s a real special treat from Solano College,” said Jones.
