Story & Poll: City Seeks New Tenants For Train Station Cafe
City says consideration will be given to those who represent Suisun City best

With the exit of the former cafe business in the Suisun City Train Station, Suisun City is looking for a new café owner to occupy the space at the station.
The city's Economic Development Department is accepting business proposals.
“There have been numerous inquiries and the response thus far has been very positive,” said Joe Knopp, Economic Development assistant.

The city is touting some advantages any future owner would have due to supposed high traffic the location would get being in the center of the train station.
The station is currently the only Solano County stop for those riding Capitol Corridor and many others come to the area for its Greyhound and city bus stops.

The city says it is also a short walk from the waterfront and business offices. Visitors, too, travel from the Central County Bikeway, a bike and pedestrain pathway from the train station to Petersen Road.
The space has been vacant for a couple of weeks now, and no business proposals have been submitted as of yet.
The city warns that those that apply should be entrepreneurial minded, submitting ideas congruent with city’s plans to make the train station a transit center. Many visitors will get their first impression of Suisun City while visiting the station.
“The train station is a gateway to Suisun City and as such it is important to find an operator who will provide a lasting positive impression to those who visit the Train Station,” said Knopp. “In our efforts to make Suisun City a destination location, a lasting positive impression is what will get people to return to Suisun City and spread the word about everything great Suisun City has to offer.”
Train station operators will be the owner of the café, while maintaining a tenant-landlord relationship with Suisun City. The deadline for submission of business proposals is Thursday, October 20 at 5:00 p.m. For more information about the café or the application process, call Joe Knopp at (707) 421-7312.
