Hampton Inn And Suites Gets New General Manager

Teresa Muniearts will be taking Hampton Inn as general manager and former BID prez, Hartmut Ott will move on to Sheraton in San Rafael

Hartmut Ott will be leaving ’ as general manager on Wednesday. His successor, Teresa Muniearts, is looking forward to upholding the same level of excellence for Suisun City’s only hotel, as well as with other partnerships of the community.

"I hope to take over all the different relationships (Ott has) developed in the community and go forward with that and see what other avenues I could take," said Muniearts.

A worker in the hospitality industry for 15 years, Muniearts is being transplanted from a general manager position at Holiday Inn Express in Corning, CA she held for three and a half years. She has previously received an award for General Manager of the Year from Rim Hospitality, the Hampton Inn’s management company. She will be training with Ott up until his departure on Wednesday and plans to move from her hometown of Chico to this area at the end of the week.

“It’s going to be a real big transition for me,” she said. “I’m going to be staying here for the week and then go home and pack and move my family here. So this is a new area for me. But I enjoy the feeling of the city, how it’s a little bit of a small town atmosphere. That’s what I’m from.”

Ott will be general manager at the Four Points Sheraton in San Rafael. He has been with Hampton Inn and Suites since the hotel opened in October 2009.

After only a year of operating, the hotel was awarded a Circle of Excellence Award, an honor given to the 50 top-performing hotels out of the 2,000 Hampton Inns throughout the country. Ott believes the location is perfect for people visiting Fairfield or Suisun, and that is the reason the hotel is gaining in popularity.

“Opening the hotel here on the Suisun Waterfront, which truly is the best location because all the other hotels in Fairfield are freeway hotels, what this hotel brings to this area is an actual destination,” he said. “So now you can stay in a quiet peaceful environment, a safe environment, beautiful views, great restaurants within walking distance.”

Ott is currently a part of Suisun City's Business Improvement District, serving as its president last year. This year Linda Feins is the president. He hopes Hampton Inn and Muniearts will continue involvement of the BID.

“I’m still on the board of directors,” said Ott. “I would expect that Teresa would take that position over since we’re the largest contributor to the BID, as well.”

For now Muniearts is simply working to get acclimated with her new position, as well as the new community she is now a part of.

“Suisun’s really done a really great thing with the waterfront and the hotel being here,” she said. “I’m very excited to come and start this new venture.”
