Suspected Car Thief Did Not Get Far In Vacaville

A 23-year-old man serving probation was arrested Thursday when Vacaville police found him driving a car that had been reported stolen outside an apartment only moments before, according to police.

Kimo Agoo, of Vacaville, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and a probation violation, police spokesman Sgt. David Kellis said.

Vacaville police dispatch received a call at 10:31 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day about a vehicle that had been stolen from the front of an apartment building in the 500 block of Rocky Hill Road, Kellis said.

The dispatcher broadcast to officers a description of the car, a 1990 Toyota Camry with oxidized paint on it, according to Kellis.

Moments later, Vacaville police Officer Carly Broaddus, who heard the broadcast, was driving in the 500 of Markham and spotted a car that matched the stolen one, police said.

The driver of the car was preparing to pull onto Markham from the parking lot of an apartment complex, according to Kellis.

The officer contacted the driver and soon learned that the car was the one reported stolen, police said.

The vehicle’s ignition had been dismantled, Kellis said. The driver, Agoo was then placed under arrest, he said.
