Tip Leads To Human Trafficking Rescue, Arrest In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CA — An armed man was arrested near a Fairfield amusement park after "a concerned community member" reported seeing a young woman in distress, leading to her rescue, police said.

Officers determined the woman was the victim of human trafficking, police said Saturday on social media.

Kenan Shackelford, 36, was taken into custody Monday evening in the 4300 block of Central Place, police said.

Shackelford had prior felony convictions and was in possession of a handgun and ammunition, police said. He was accused of human trafficking, pimping and firearms-related offenses.

"The Fairfield Police Department is grateful to the community member who recognized that something was wrong and took the time to report it," the department said. "That call helped officers intervene and rescue a victim from a dangerous situation."
