Update on Air Base Parkway Accident: Officer Involved Hospitalized

The Fairfield road was closed for more than six hours Monday night.

A long portion of Air Base Parkway in Fairfield reopened Monday night more than six hours after a vehicle crash that sent a police officer to the hospital.

The female officer involved in the crash is in a hospital being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, Fairfield police Sgt. Matt Thomas said.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash involving the police officer’s patrol car, a Ford Crown Victoria, and happened around 4 p.m. on eastbound Air Base Parkway, Thomas said.

It does not appear any other vehicles were involved, police said.

Details about what caused the crash were not available.

The eastbound lanes of the roadway were shut down for a mile-long stretch from Heath Drive to Dover Avenue until about 10:30 p.m., according to police.
