Vacaville Boy, 16, Arrested In Connection With Thursday's Shootings In Fairfield

A 16-year-old Vacaville resident was arrested Thursday on several charges including suspicion of attempted homicide following an afternoon shooting in Fairfield.

The teen, who has not been identified, was also arrested on suspicion of being armed in the commission of a felony while causing great bodily injury, shooting at an inhabited dwelling and for a probation violation, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

Police said officers around 2 p.m. responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Tabor Avenue and located a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers were able to identify the vehicle involved in the shooting and located it on Peabody Road near the Solano State Prison.

Police said the driver, the 16-year-old suspect, was taken into custody, and officers found two loaded handguns during a subsequent search of the vehicle.

Just prior to the shooting, the suspect had dropped off another person, identified as Michael Ovando, 18, of Vacaville, at the hospital after Ovando had been shot in the leg, according to police Ovando was listed in stable condition at the hospital.
