He's also long served on Sunnyvale's library, housing, and planning-related commissions, giving local residents a strong voice in both city and county decisions affecting accessibility and community services.
   

• California City's Civic Center Faced Critical Energy Question for its Master Plan. A Microgrid Answered it (microgridknowledge.com) — Sunnyvale's Civic Center, including City Hall, now runs on a solar-powered microgrid designed to keep essential city services operating during outages from heat waves, wildfires, or earthquakes. The all-electric, net‑zero‑energy complex uses rooftop solar, batteries, and a backup generator to cut peak demand and boost resilience. Officials say the project strengthens emergency support and everyday reliability for Sunnyvale residents.
   

• Former Sunnyvale resident pleads guilty to health care fraud (mercurynews.com) — A former Sunnyvale resident who led local medical equipment firm Vonyes Inc. has pleaded guilty in San Jose to three counts of health care fraud tied to a massive Medicare Advantage scheme. Prosecutors say he helped submit bogus claims seeking $137 million, received $2.8 million in reimbursements, and funneled most of the money to Hong Kong. He faces up to 10 years in prison when sentenced in February 2027.
