1 Year In Jail For Convicted Felon Found With Guns Near SW RivCo

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A probationer convicted of possessing multiple guns and hundreds of pounds of marijuana was sentenced Friday to 364 days in jail and 36 months of probation.

Joel Ramos, 29, of Anza, was arrested Nov. 12, 2019 in an early morning raid by members of the Hemet-San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force at his house, in the 39600 block of Quionnes Road, near Scouts Lane. They obtained a search warrant based on an investigation that indicated illicit activity at the location, police said.

At the property, authorities located "multiple firearms, ammunition, approximately 500 pounds of processed marijuana and U.S. currency," Hemet police Sgt. Bob Nishida said previously.

"Additionally, two stolen vehicles were recovered as a result of the search," he said.

Ramos was later charged with being a convicted felon possessing firearms, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited from possessing a firearm and a misdemeanor marijuana for sale charge.

In exchange for his plea with the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, the ammunition charge was dismissed, said John Hall, a spokesman for the district attorney's office.
Court records show he was not charged for possessing stolen cars. Ramos pleaded guilty to his charges Jan. 3.

Along with Ramos, task force investigators arrested a then-33-year-old Luis Alberto Cruz Mendoza for a misdemeanor traffic warrant. He was released a short time later after posting a $5,000 bond.

According to Nishida, Ramos has a prior conviction for possession of a stolen vehicle.
