TEMECULA, CA — Temecula's Community Recreation Center at Ronald Reagan Sports Park is ready for a $10.7 million renovation.

The CRC located at 30875 Rancho Vista Road is now closed to the public, with construction work set to begin later this month. The renovation involves three phases, with the first being a new roof, new flooring throughout the facility, improvements to the kitchen and upgrades per the Americans with Disabilities Act.

"These repairs and renovations are quite extensive, and the facility is not scheduled to re-
open until the completion of the first phase in the Spring of 2023," according to a news brief from the city.

The CRC will shut down again for the subsequent construction phases, but those dates are yet to be determined, according to the city.

Temecula’s CRC is the home of the Teen Zone, which is now operating Tuesdays at the Ronald H. Roberts Temecula Public Library (30600 Pauba Road). The Teen Zone is also meeting on select Thursdays outside at the Temecula Skate Park (42569 Margarita Road). The Teen Zone calendar shows all dates and activities: TemeculaCA.gov/TeenZone.

The basketball gym is closed and the programs inside it are paused until the spring reopening.

According to city documents, the center's overall rehab includes reconfiguration of the teen center; conversion of office space to accommodate a dedicated police substation; renovation of safety features, flooring, roof, and restroom facility access; ADA compliance; renovation and expansion of existing office space and rec rooms; expanded storage space and upgraded kitchen equipment.

About half of the $10.7 million project cost is funded by developer fees, while the remainder is covered by Measure S funding, according to city documents. In 2016, Temecula voters approved the ballot measure that imposed a 1% sales tax hike to fund general city services.
