100+ Firefighters Dispatched As Brush Fire Breaks Out East Of Temecula

BREAKING: The fire is burning in the Anza area, fire officials say.

TEMECULA, CA — A brush fire broke out Wednesday just east of Temecula, blackening an estimated six acres before fire crews were able to hold the size, the Riverside County Fire Department reports. The Mine Incident was first reported at 11:57 a.m. in the area of Indian and Deer Mountain roads.

"CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters, with assistance by USFS BDF and BLM are on scene of a wildland fire in Anza," Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department said shortly after the blaze sparked. "The fire is approximately 3-5 acres burning in heavy fuels at a moderate rate."

102 firefighters, along with 4 air tankers, 3 helicopters, and 2 bulldozers were all sent to the scene.

At 1:15 p.m., Hagemann reported that the fire was holding at six acres in size.
