ONE MORE CHARITY WILL BENEFIT IN 2016
Temecula, CA – Before the month of October comes to a close, one more Temecula area charity is slated to receive a $10,000 windfall donation for immediate use, due to the growing membership of a newly-formed women’s organization. The 100+ Women Who Care Temecula Valley Chapter will meet on Wednesday, October 19 at 7pm at Leoness Cellars Winery to hear presentations and vote on the fourth quarter recipient of their tax deductible donations.

Launched in January of 2016, the local chapter of this international organization has quickly grown to more than 120 members. Previous meetings this year have resulted in $10,000+ donations to three local charities: Young Life, Hope’s Community Closet and Project TOUCH.
Open to women of all ages and backgrounds, the local chapter of 100+ Women Who Care is a fun way to meet up with friends, co-workers, and neighbors and make a difference in the valley. Donations this inaugural year have funded lunch programs and winter camp scholarships for teenagers, provided clothing and backpacksfor school age children, and have helped support a program that assists the homeless.

There are no requirements for volunteering or fundraising, nor does the chapter have any overhead expenses. Quarterly meetings last only one hour, and members bring their checkbook to write out a $100 tax deductible donation to the winning organizations. Members nominate charities, three are drawn from a bowl to makea brief spontaneous presentation at the meeting, and then a secret vote is taken. Whichever organization receives the most votes from members in attendance is declared the quarterly recipient, and all members then write out a check.
“There couldn’t be an easier way to share the needs in our community, and then make an immediate impact,” said Cathy Early, spokesperson for the organization. “Some women also have employers who will match contributions to the charity donations made by their employees, which further increases the total funds that can be awarded locally,” she shared. “A total of more than $40,000 is expected to be donated this year to non-profit organizations in Southwest Riverside County.”
In order to participate and nominate a local charity, women must complete a commitment form online, attend one quarterly meeting and make a donation to the winning organization.
(http://100womenwhocaretv.weebly.com/membership-commitment-form.html) All members are expected to make the $100 donation to the winning charity each quarter. If unable to attend a meeting, women on the roster still commit to make the $100 donation.
Comprised of women of all ages and backgrounds, there are more than 350 similar chapters in operation around the US and in several foreign countries. Karen Dunigan, former mayor of Jackson, Michigan pitched the concept to her friends and colleagues ten years ago, and the first chapter was organized November 2006.
