From NCL: On May 21, 2018 National Charity League, Inc. (NCL, Inc.) celebrated the graduating class of 2018 at Fazeli Cellars in Temecula, where the twelve young women were honored during the annual Senior Recognition Ceremony and Dinner Dance.
National Charity League, Inc. is a non-profit national organization of mother and daughter members in Chapters across the United States. Known as “Ticktockers” within the NCL organization, the Temecula Valley Chapter graduates come from high schools across the Temecula/Murrieta Valley area, including: Chaparral High School, Great Oak High School, Linfield Christian High School, Murrieta Valley High School, Temecula Preparatory School, and Temecula Valley High School, and have completed the NCL experience of community service, leadership development, and cultural activities.
The event, with the theme “The World is Your Oyster” included special guest speaker and master of ceremony, Dr. Amy Bremner, a dedicated board-certified breast surgeon at Breastlink, Temecula. The festivities included the presentation of seniors in their traditional long white gowns, a sentimental Father-Daughter waltz, and a special recognition of the Seniors’ mothers (Patronesses) who have given their time, talents, and dedication to our community alongside their daughters. One of the night’s highlights was the presentation of the coveted Senior Service Award, a very special award given out each year to the Senior who has the highest number of cumulative hours during the course of her NCL journey. Ticktocker, Paige Sexton who has volunteered 406.25 hours was presented with this amazing honor.

As a group, the Temecula Valley Chapter Class of 2018 (and their mothers) volunteered 2,295.75 hours since they helped establish this Chapter in 2013. The entire Temecula Valley Chapter volunteered 5944 philanthropy hours in the 2017-2018 year.
In addition to many other volunteer activities, the senior girls worked hard together on their Senior Leadership Project. The purpose of this Senior Leadership Project is to have the girls use the skills they have acquired over the last five years of being a part of NCL. The girls researched, designed and presented a community service project for the entire chapter’s participation. The Class of 2018 began working on “Project Sunshine” as juniors last year. They wanted to spread sunshine throughout the Temecula/Murrieta community while assisting Jacob’s House, Temecula. Their project included two parts. The first was making 100 “Sunshine Waiting Room/Comfort Bags” for families staying at Jacob’s House who have loved ones in the hospital, which contained items like lap blankets, snacks, activity books, and handwritten notes that would provide comfort to those spending time in the hospital waiting rooms. The second part of their project was to create a “Sunshine Corner” in an outdoor area on the property of Jacob’s House for guests to enjoy. They wanted to provide a space where guests were able to sit and relax, be liberated of some of their worries, and find some peace and happiness.

With the help of all the NCL classes, and the support of our NCL Board and the Chapter Patronesses, the girls were able to collect items and raise enough money with fundraisers to make 100 Sunshine Bags and beautify a garden area with benches, a bird bath, bird feeder, and flower planter.
“The World is Your Oyster and these girls are truly the pearls,” said Chapter President Jennifer Nguyen. “Thank you, future leaders, Emma Bramante, Shea Conley, Gabriella Dominguez, Anne-Sophie Doucet, Taylor Gagnon, Mia Holmes, Hailey Hurd, Kathryn Hurley, Kaitlyn Locke, Daphne Oakden, Lilyanna Perakis, and Paige Sexton for your commitment to NCL and to your community Over the course of a six-year program, these seniors have created memories that will last a life time.”
